Convergence and cookies

Sometimes you take a little slip of paper out of the "21" pocket on the advent calendar and it says, "Go see the light show at the Farmstead" and the kids cheer and you have a plan and then you find out that there will be a celestial convergence of Jupiter and Saturn that very night it it hasn't happened like this since the year 1226 and so you ditch the farmstead and you go over to Bro Broyles house because he has actual honest-to-goodness telescopes. And you think....oh man, I would've felt pretty stupid if I had missed this for a music timed, socially distanced light show.

Check this out!

We saw Jupiter and Saturn and we could see the rings and the stripes on Jupiter!

We could even see 3 of Jupiter's moons!

He focused another telescope on the moon and zoomed in on the Apennine Mountain range.

It was seriously an amazing experience and I'm so glad the kids got to see it.

We dropped Laney and Megan off to hand out with their respective friends and we headed over for round two of Christmas cookie decorating. This time with the Flynns and Terrys.

Lauren getting artistic with our extensive selection of sprinkles...

Mark made a Mr. T christmas tree!

And we dressed him up with a fancy sweater and stocking.

Cubs sweater!

Baby Yoda (Grogu)

The Flynn girls getting artistic with the black icing...the Grinch!

I did my fair share of decorating, but I was mostly interested in the coconut cocoa they were serving up. Did you know that when you add coconut creamer to regular old cocoa, it transforms it into something I will daydream about until spring? Now you know.

We do good work!
