Halloween day!

I love to watch the kids parade through the school. I have so many good memories of doing the same thing as a kid.

Everly the mummy!

Anna's class photo!

Here's my major contribution to the Halloween spirit....

Mathew and his friends out trick or treating.

And this is the most in focus photo I could get of the girls...They were a blur of energy as they gathered all the candy they could within a 2 block radius.

And before we go home to dissolve into a heap of sorting and gluttony, we head to the Ebert's house for their first annual donut night!

Bye Bye Halloween!

Pumpkin Carving 2018

After several years of hosting the pumpkin carving night, we have learned a thing or two. Like, it will make us all feel less stressed if we pre-seed our pumpkins.

When Amy arrived, she jumped right in to sort, wash, season and bake the seeds so we could finally have toasted pumpkin seed experience!

Everyone else got down to the business of carving.

Megan is her own inspiration.

I think Sam is confusing his pumpkin for a basketball.

Time for a intense ping pong battle!

Some loafing about

Perhaps a civilized game of chess?

The pumpkins!!

Electric Scooters in Kansas City

Now we're really sowing our wild oats!

Drop kids at school and we head straight downtown to do a scooter tour of the city.  It took us few minutes to find enough scooters for all of us AND find an acceptable parking space.

What is acceptable attire for electric scootering? I'd say the main thing is something to protect the brains. Although, it became very clea, very fast that we were the only ones in the history of this fine city that have worn helmets. We were getting some amused looks.

We don't care. We are what you call "momcool".

Sara did end up getting a wheel stuck in a streetcar track and it sent her flying over the handle bar. She got scraped up and actually passed out at one point, but I'm pretty sure that helmet saved her noggin....so there. We dusted her off and pulled her off the road. Kind citizens came running (to her horror) and all we absolutely amazed that she actually wore a helmet.

And then we went to get pizza.

Because we let nothing get in our way of kid-free food and adventures.

Hereditary Squirreling

I found this little pile of treats hidden away behind the oils and vinegars in the pantry.

Is it nature or nurture?

Halloween Costumes 2018

Home from Wallace, unpacked, showered, napped and off to the ward Halloween party!

We all know all I want are photo of them in their costumes.  I'm sure the party was fun too. Or not. Who cares?

Everly the Fox!

Anna the Black Owl...designed well in advance. Executed with precision, if I do say so myself.

Laney also had specific requirements for her Wolf

eh? A few minor adjustments, but I think we stayed true to the spirit of her vision.

Megan and Mathew both chose characters from Voltron. I have never seen the show, but they are megafans.

Meg is Pidge:

Mat is Lance:

Not bad!!

Ethan rummaged through his impressive fur collection, our "Night at Jeruselem" supplies, and the Jedi faux leather pieces to come up with this pretty sweet interpretation of a Viking warrior.

He never disappoints!

 These yahoos are hilarious.
