Anna turns 7!!

Anna's birthday just isn't a birthday without a big bowl of blueberries for breakfast. This girl has blueberries in her DNA.

And she always has the very best bed head.

She loves having her birthday at school. Her teacher let her stand on her desk and all the kids sang to her. It's pretty awesome.

Then she get's to go deliver a treat to Mr. Kearney. If that man is eating all the birthday goodies that come his way, he is definitely diabetic by now.

Look at this little cutie patootie. She loves to wear her cheetah dress. She has a passion for fashion!

I love the extra fun stuff that the big kids do for their younger siblings to make their day special. I mean, I never think to make a super cool duct tape banner with little action figures dancing on each letter.

Yummy chocolate cake with fresh strawberries.

And a brand new coat with built in gloves. (well, kind of)

Happy Birthday, sweet Anna Jane!

A patient heart

Thank you, Daphne.

For not biting her and running far, far away.

You are a saint.

Trimming the tree

Taking a quick break for a round of bloody knuckles....slapping version.

And so it grows

Is it just me? or is our workout equipment making friends and having babies?

Thanksgiving

Confession: I'm writing about this Thanksgiving from the year 2020 (oooh! The future!)

I don't really remember the details of the day from 3 years later, but the thing I love is the way these days have so much in common with the years past. We cook and we plan. I love the same decorations and the fall flowers. I love our friends that feel like part of our family.

I love the music and the fun.

Happy Thanksgiving (from the future....boogety boo!)

Thrifting buddy

Ethan loves coming to Savers with me. He understands that feeling you get when you see a blue painted duck and you know you have to take it home and put in on your shelf.

A night at the Midland - Tommy Emmanuel

This is one of those sweet surprises in life.

Mark and I went to the Midland Theater in the Power and Light District, downtown KC to see Tommy Emmanuel play. The theater was built in 1927 and is the kind of place they just don't build anymore. It's a treat to go see someone perform there.

And Tommy Emmanuel....

He didn't disappoint.

This is my favorite of all his songs:

And then! We got to listen to these two, Rob Ickes and Trey Hensely..they have serious guitar chops.

And if that wasn't enough, Tommy did a big set with this fantastic mandolin musician, David Grisman. He was old school and utterly entertaining.

We enjoyed every minute if it. Sometimes it's worth stepping off the beaten path!

50's day

Well, if that isn't the cutest thing....

So close

It's not that I don't appreciate the fact that someone else did the cooking...

Drawing blood

If I come out of a workout bleeding, does that mean I'm super awesome or that I can't jump rope with out injuring myself?

Clearly, I'm awesome.
