Father's Day/Mathew's 12th collide

Every so often Mathew's birthday falls on Father's Day and that same year Ethan's birthday falls on Mother's day.  It's a little confusing. But we make it work.

Mark's breakfast in bed: HuffMuffins!

Mathew got one too, but we will mostly celebrate on Tuesday, when he will be taking his friends to see "Inside Out" at the AMC 28.

Still...you gotta at least acknowledge that it is actually his birthday ON the day.

We went to church and the kids sang the climbing on the knee song and the dads got brownies.

Then we came home and had a roast, mashed potatoes, corn, homemade rolls and pistachio yak.

I also made this cake...which was actually a yellow cake mix that I doctored up to make into a chocolate cake.  Unfortunately, I took it out of the oven and inadvertently placed one of the layers over the oven vent and it slow roasted there while we were at church, effectively turning into a large chocolate crouton.

The frosting recipe used to be one of my favorites, but since we have been eating low fat and switched over to cool whip frostings, it was WAY too rich and buttery. Kinda ruined the cake.

Looks pretty, though.

All in all, not the most impressive of Father's Day productions.

But I sure love this man.
