Utah Trip - Day 2, Denver to Layton, or maybe Layton to Denver?

A key element to a happy vacation is making sure everyone gets to do a few things they love to do...for the little girls, that means redbox movies and sampling copious amounts of the breakfast buffet foods. For Mark, that means Crossfit drop-ins, and collecting different shirts from different boxes.

We kicked it off with a 5:30 am class at Crossfit Loop. We got to see one of our favorite coaches from the early days at On Track, Jacob Dumas! He was exactly how we remembered him and his energy almost made up for the 200 wall balls we had to pump out before hitting the road for Utah.

On the drive back to the hotel, Mathew sent us a highly detailed list of what was available for breakfast....

He had the little girls up, dressed and eating when we walked in....my goodness. I love that Maffers.

We rebuilt the Tetris masterpiece in the back of the van and we were on our way....

But first! A little snout shot from Ethan! Now we were on our way....

But first! We will attempt to be spontaneous and take a fun family pic at the gas station....

No....let's fight about where we're sitting on the dino instead.

Like, really fight. Get-all-your-tears-out-fight. So glad we stopped! Now we are finally on our way...

But first! Mark will attempt to juggle large finger-crushing rocks.  Poor fingers.

And now we're off... But first! Megan will set up a privacy screen. What I wouldn't give for a stretchy piece of fabric right about now.

And we actually did finally get on the road and start driving to Utah. We took I-80 and managed to swing though Laramie, Wyoming and visit our good friends and old neighbors, the Squires!

I couldn't help but look up the last time we were together. Look how short they were! It's like they weren't even trying.

At this point, we'd taken about 5 hours to get 2 hours down the road. I swear we were driving backwards.

Backwards driving can be pretty beautiful.

We didn't feel we were going slow enough, so we made a point to stop at nearly every gas station we saw to take a piddle and window shop the local handicrafts.

All good things must end. We did eventually arrive in Utah and drove straight to a Cafe Rio where we accidentally met up with Shannon and Ameli (great mind, great stomachs).
