Olathe Stake Trek 2019

It seems like Megan's birthday always lines up with other fun events that she wants to do! This year, it is Pioneer Trek.  We didn't want the special day to pass entirely without making her feel special, so we fed her a hearty pioneer breakfast and lit it on fire!

Oh my heart! Aren't these guys the cutest dern pioneers you ever laid eyes on?

And clean as a whiste, too!

Gathering at the chapel...

The kids are organized into families and receive colored matching scarves.

Megan is part of the Walsh Family

Mathew was part of the Sessions Family

Ethan and the Moulton Family. They had no problem getting into character...as you can see.

Mark went along as a part of the pioneer band. For a man that dislikes camping as much as he does, he actually had a wonderful time. I love that he made that sacrifice to go and have this experience with his kids.

Ethan and Mathew both had the opportunity to participate in musical numbers and devotionals.

Nothing brings the spirit or seals in a memory like music.

Ethan and his compadres...competing in the handcart race.

Emily was a part of the Bailey family! I was so proud of her for getting out of her comfort zone and going along!

Lots of walking, lots of bonding and hanging out with "family"

Aidan and Ryan on the stick pull.

Aidan and Mathew...ridiculously cute.

Trekking through the water. Most of the kids will remember this as a major highlight of their trek. This water seemed to appear out of nowhere. And those who went back that way just few hours later said it was nearly gone. It almost felt like someone put it there to create an experience that would help them connect to the pioneers and create something unforgettable.

Ethan comparing his weaponry.

I suppose the pioneers didn't have drones to capture images of their travels, but it would've been cool!

Four Square time!

Megan being sung to by all of the youth! She's dying inside...to much attention!

I would love it so much if this was something the kids did every year.

Unforgettable.
