On the second day of Christmas...

I remembered I never wrote about the first day of school.

Heh. heh.

I would tell you how busy I have been and it would be true...but somehow I managed to find time to watch all 5 seasons of Friday Night Lights.

Maybe "busy" isn't the appropriate word. More like "otherwise occupied".

So let's take a gander out our first day of school: 2011-2012, shall we.

We shall.

I made them hold up the number of fingers that coincide with the grade they are in.

Awww.

Meggy was totally on board with the idea.

Laney doesn't go to school yet, but seriously...you don't get to leave little girls out of photo shoots. Ever. They get mad and cry and then you feel like a crappy mom.  Just take the picture. Also, I just remembered why I did her hair like that...I don't typically love the "fountain of hair on the top" look for little girls, but Laney had a small cut on the very top of her head that she relentlessly scratched and kept re-opening the wound. I figured if I put a very snug hair-do right on top of the scratch, she would leave it alone.

I was wrong. She scratched it open no matter what I did. We talked about all manner of solutions and Ethan suggested a dog cone.

After awhile, we all forgot about it and so did she.

Most stuff around here happens JUST LIKE THAT.

Here's Ethan.

He wasn't really feeling that holding up a "five" was a very cool thing to do. I have also noticed that he no longer feels the need to color on his menu at restaurants.

It's unnerving.

That didn't stop me from asking him over and over to hold up 5 dang fingers so I could keep the theme going.  Sheesh.

I can be very persuasive.

Mathew still loves to color on his menus.

And he is in 3rd grade.

And he'll throw in the splits for good measure.

And I bet if you stick around long enough, you'll see a little "free-style breakdancing".
