We arrived in Arkansas in secrecy.
We parked our van down the lane and around the corner.
We gathered with the other siblings and their families. Mat and Jim and their wives flew in from Utah to be there....I was amazed at how quiet we were, considering our numbers (and our Huffordness).
We waited for the signal and we quietly tip-toed up the stairs.
Jean was blindfolded and under the assumption that she had a big present they wanted to bring in and "set up".
Look at her face!!
We stood there and let her take it in...then we stood there a while longer....and then a little longer. I suddenly felt like we should have practiced a musical number in her honor.
We all gathered for cake and singing...Mathew got to light the candles!
And (you are not going to believe this), the kids all lined up and insisted she go through the birthday spanking machine...
AND SHE DID!!!
And then we did as we always do...we joke around and we get silly.
The Allreds always have some silly accessories around for pure entertainment.
I love the part where there are dozens of conversations going on all over the house. People connecting and talking.
What a great day. And what a wonderful way to show this sweet woman that she is loved and treasured by her family.
