Prom Dress Morning

This morning we went to the Prom Dress Event hosted by Joy Closet, our very favorite thrift store EVER. They receive so many prom dress donations, they save them up and right before prom season begins, they host this day. Every girl can come and select one dress, a pair of shoes, necklace and earrings FOR FREE.

Isn't that the coolest idea??

I found myself a chair and set them loose.

They each for two or three to try on and waited in the long line.

Just about every mom I know showed up that morning. It was so fun to see the girls find a dress that made them feel beautiful. We all settled in to ooooh and ahhhh and hold the ones they were considering.

My only worry was that one of them wouldn't find something and would leave empty handed. But what do you know!! They all found something they loved! Laney and Anna found two! And they were all so different. It was fun to see what they picked and I really enjoyed seeing how confident they were in their own styles.

This calls for a fashion show.

It was a fun and happy morning. And Everly can't wait to grow a few inches and go in a year or two!

Meanwhile...back in KC

Ethan and Kassie got up early to take the "littles" to the WWI museum.

Megan stayed back and worked on her homemade pizzas....when I tell you she has it down to a science, I really mean it. She is serious about making pizza.

And we are all the better for it!

I, too, had big plans. December is coming. I need to store up energy and collect inner peace.

Mathew arrives this morning! He's hopped up on caffeine, pretty wired and pushing through.

aaaand we have plans to go thrifting! We are searching for various kitchen necessities...is there anything better than going thrifting when you actually need something? So satisfying.

Who knows? We might find a solid gold Christmas tree!

To a tee

I can't count how many times I have said these words. It's substantial.

A spot for the whole family

Look what Mark found!

He not only found it, he haggled it down to 1000 dollars and he and Meg managed to get it home in just two trips.

It was huge. Wall to wall huge. So he put one section upstairs in our room, moved the blue chair to the office and the old furniture is off to Savers.

Whoever buys that furniture will get lots of extra prizes stuck under the springs!

Thrifty Sisters

Do you think the other customers at Maj-R-Thrift are mad that we are taking up all three fitting rooms?

Without a doubt.

Yin and yang

I'm almost 100% positive that I overlooked the printing of Minivan Express tickets this year. Everly never lets that stop her. She'll make her own dang ticket and punch it on the way to the car.

We loved Winter Magic so much, we decided to go again this year! It was definitely cool. We'll just forget about the road rage exchange we had with a super rude carful of people that simply would not honor the Universal Zippering Code. Rude butts.

I will be at peace knowing that they have a crapload of bard karma floating around out there just waiting to punch them in the neck

Winter Magic is kinda pricey, but we stopped at Wachter on the way to get free cocoa.

So we're all good.

Advent - Day 2....Letters, lists and a place to sit

A few important things to report today:

I convinced the girls to write actual letters to Santa. I heard of a senior living center that has a mailbox out front where the kids can drop their Santa letters...then the residents will write back to the kids! Isn't that the best idea ever?

In other news, I woke up this morning and realized that if I didn't obtain help from a medical professional STAT I wouldn't be able to open my puffy, crusty eyes. And it is entirely possible my lips will actually explode, assuming I don't scratch them clean off my face. So I cancelled homeschool, made an appointment and got a steroid shot right in the butt.

Now we wait.

Have I mentioned how awesome masks are?

So awesome.

And just one more thing....I bought this comfy sectional off of a nice couple in a fancy neighborhood just down the street. They just moved here from Colorado and they absolutely could not fit the dang thing down the stairs and into their basement. Bummer for them, bargain for me!

Only 300 bucks!!

Fancy Dancin

Today was picture day at the dance studio. We gussied up.

And then we took our own photos because we aren't the kind of people that pay for expensive pictures of our own kids more that once a year. And it best have a fake library background.

I think we did pretty good! Look at these gorgeous ladies!

And you can't tell me that those professional photographers could do a better job of posing these girls...

Bam!

Gorg!

Perfection.

Thrifting buddy

Ethan loves coming to Savers with me. He understands that feeling you get when you see a blue painted duck and you know you have to take it home and put in on your shelf.
