Prom Dress Morning

This morning we went to the Prom Dress Event hosted by Joy Closet, our very favorite thrift store EVER. They receive so many prom dress donations, they save them up and right before prom season begins, they host this day. Every girl can come and select one dress, a pair of shoes, necklace and earrings FOR FREE.

Isn't that the coolest idea??

I found myself a chair and set them loose.

They each for two or three to try on and waited in the long line.

Just about every mom I know showed up that morning. It was so fun to see the girls find a dress that made them feel beautiful. We all settled in to ooooh and ahhhh and hold the ones they were considering.

My only worry was that one of them wouldn't find something and would leave empty handed. But what do you know!! They all found something they loved! Laney and Anna found two! And they were all so different. It was fun to see what they picked and I really enjoyed seeing how confident they were in their own styles.

This calls for a fashion show.

It was a fun and happy morning. And Everly can't wait to grow a few inches and go in a year or two!

SBL: Trashy Snacks

Up next on the Summer Bucket List: Trashy Snacks!

The rules....the rules are...let me make up some rules....

THE RULES

1. The snack must be one that you have never tried before

2. It must be total trash...devoid of nutrition

3. It must be sharable

4. You must pose with your selections and your sisters in the aisle.

And just in case you are wondering....the zebra rolls were far and away the best of the three!

Gingerbread Condos

I cannot tell you how grateful I am that the major retailers have responded to my deep need to have gingerbread "houses" NOT be houses every year.  We've done the big house, we've done the mini houses and the trees. We've gone with graham crackers and a couple years in a row, pretended we might make the gingerbread from scratch...that's so adorable.  They say hope springs eternal!

This year I spotted these gingerbread row houses! I love their little staircases! And there are three of them...perfect.

With the gingerbread decorating complete, icing scraped off the countertop and sprinkles swept up, I settled in to work on my puzzle and was treated to an impromptu performance of Little Mermaid...complete with sister waves crashing on the rocks with dramatic flair!

Overalls

Some sisters might be annoyed to find themselves twinning as they walk out the door.

These might be those sisters.

But I think they actually love it. They're cool like that.

Utah Trip with Laney

Off to visit Utah with my Laney. We rocked the early flight again...that means we are up by 3 am.

That's the best 3 am hair I've ever traveled with!

That's the happy smile of a kid that just realized they get to pick the movie...no siblings to argue with!

We hit the ground running when we got to Utah! We found lots of ways to have fun with Grandma Kathleen and Ethan. He wasn't gone long before we were there for a visit! We stopped off at Hobby Lobby, everyone chose their spirit animal.

We marveled at the bulk "salads" at Macy's deli counter. I'm not being sarcastic. I would love to have this in Kansas.

And then we went to see a play at Hale Center Theater. Lara, Kaira, Heidi, and Terrah all joined in! It was exactly how I remember it when I was a kid.

Friday morning we got up and got to work on Mom's yard. Time to get everything pruned, clipped and weeded for the winter.

Saturday morning we went Salt Lake to meet up with Bri, Tonic, Johnny, Max, Chelsea and their families for a breakfast. It was so great to catch up with John's kids. We haven't seen them in ages!

After breakfast, we ventured over to the Church Art Exhibit. There were some very cool pieces.

Some were pretty relatable.

Bonus! It was Comic Con weekend!

Grandma was tired after a full morning, so we took her home to rest and we went over to see Heidi and Deiter.

We thought it would be fun to go to WitchFest at Gardner Village. Ethan is already pretty tight with Romie.

Sunday morning, Ethan drove us up to the airport...but first! One more yummy breakfast.

Oh my....Utah scones. Fried perfection.

And one last chance to watch that movie in peace!

Back to Kansas we go.
