Turtles are better that budgets

I have been sitting in the corner of the couch for almost 8 weeks now. In fact, I am two days away from freedom.

In that time I have caught up on nearly a year's worth of blogging (2021 to 2022 will be noticeably less rich in detail) (I'm sorry) (I can't help it. Sometimes life is hard and it feels soooo unbloggable).

I have had the budget book sitting within arms reach for over a month.

But I decided to crochet this little turtle instead.

Winnie helped.

I can't get over his little shell back pack! I'm pretty pleased with my efforts.

Winnie will try to take most of the credit, but she's lying.

Killing time

At least 2 times a week I sit for almost two hours in a gravel parking lot in the middle of nowhere, Gardner. Everly is inside that warehouse building up big muscles and I either catch a nap or take a snooze.

Until today.

I found out that her gym is just a couple minutes from The Flower Farm on Moonlight Rd.

I think I'm in trouble.

This place is a labyrinth of overstuffed greenhouses. I haven't even begun to scratch the surface!

Oh...but I will.

Sunset at Cedar

We needed to get out of the house. So we dragged the girls out to the car and went for "a drive".

I hated that when I was a kid. And then I loved it. They might love it too. But it's not required.

We poked around in the sand and looked for ducks.

The sun slid into that perfect glow and I thought I could get a picture of my girls.

I'll take it.

Let's go find some ducks.

High Fashion

The girls are feverishly producing one-of-a-kind clothing for their barbies. There is felt and hot glue EVERYWHERE.  The messes have reached unprecedented proportions.

I keep finding these adorable little miniature accessories all over. They melt my heart!

Barbie-size sheet music....charming!

An itty bitty box of chocolates...precious!

Little toilet filled with melted chocolate......oh. Oh no.

No no no.

Entertaining ourselves

Cooped up a bit, Megan?

There are few things are satisfying as a A/C vent and a triangle dress.

Quarantine Theater

Laney and Anna have spent the entire day shooting a gripping romance called Daveo and Romiette featuring their hand puppets.

There are no words to describe....

The very second they are done in post-production, I will post it. I am telling you, the walking while holding hands alone is worth a ticket price.

Well.

Let me tell ya.

Just....no.

I won't name names.

But someone has taken a perfectly innocent bag of chocolate chips and turned them into this.....

monstrosity.

Anybody want a bite of the oozing pooman?

No? No takers?

But he's so appetizing!!

Clearing the pores

I promise you, every single time we do this, Everly ends up crying because "it's hurting!! Get it off! Why did you do that to me??"

It's the price of beauty, my sweet.

And we are just so bored.

Recipe Box...we have banned the orange

I need a recipe box.

My recipe folder is a total mess and all the little hole punches have ripped through. It's not organized and I am completely over it.

I want a recipe box.

Only I can't find the exact one I like.

So I'm going to start with this....orange monstrosity!! (but it's got the right shape)

A little sanding and some walnut stain and I'm pretty happy with it!  And now to rewrite all my favorites onto these cute recipe cards...I love a good project!

To Perform or To Puzzle?

We all have our own ways of entertaining ourselves.

And both seem totally crazy to the other!

Bored level up

It's August and we're feeling low energy today.

We should stack cheerios on this stick.

Getting resourceful

Sooo....here's the thing.

It's still summer.

We're out of money.

We're out of ideas.

The bucket list is SOOOO close to being checked off (can we get a stinkin kid's movie at the drive-in, for cryin out loud??).

It is hotter that the blazes of he_ _ out there.

And due to unprecedented levels of fighting, we are on a break from technology.

It's time to get creative.

Batman and Mini-bat!

If you can't play on the laptop....make a paper one. (You'd be surprised how much they love doing this.)

And don't forget a good ole fashioned game of "Santa's sleigh. Maybe I should tell them that there are supposed to be more reindeer than Santas.....

The Littles

I will always be grateful that we had our kids in sets. Obviously we had almost no say in who came when, but I love that the big boys have each other, the middles are reading The BFG to each other at night, and the Littles are giggling and fighting and playing lunchtime rowboat.
