The forgotten week

That five days in between Christmas and New Years is just weird. Routines are off, meals are a hodge podge of leftovers, stale treats and heating up tater tots. 

It's no man's land.

We're in a holiday fog.

We managed a few things...

AJ picked up her official driver's permit!

I'm working on my paint by number. It's coming along,

The ward held their ice skating party....it was "winter raining". 

I sat in the truck. I draw the line at watching ice skating and getting soaked. I had a nice nap and Megan took pictures for me! I know I'm lame and totally no fun.

Even though I bark at her alot and tell her to "stop parenting your sisters", I am really glad that she's so good at stepping in when I am snoozing in the truck. 

We held our 3rd annual Power Hour at the gym and Mark set it up so that there was a big rowing race at the end with little boats to show who was winning. It was super cool. People suffering on the floor is a sure sign. 

I'm glad this weird week is over. Lets take down the tree and get organized. 
 

Coaches

Mark is under the gun at work. The sky is falling over there.

So the rest of us are handling matters at the gym. Thank the heavens above that I'm finally off crutches. 

It's CPR night at the Hufford House and we're having Butter Chicken and garlic naan....because I love these yahoos. 

A Fourth of a different flavor

 Starting off the day with a hero WOD at On Track! It was a huge turnout. 

Home to do some patriotic nails and find our America t-shirts!

We never really have solid plans for where we will watch fireworks. We tend to wander over to Gardner Lake and pull over in an unidentified grassy patch that I promise you I would not be able to find in the daytime.  It's got an okay view of some fireworks and we have a fair amount of mosquito biting going on. It's fun...it's a semi-tradition...and it's always in danger of getting ditched for a better idea.

We heard that the view at the Lenexa Stake Center was pretty great, so we figured we would try it out. 

Some good friends, glow sticks and a quick exit out the back lot and I'd say it's a future contender!

Coed Classic is Born

Heck, we just figured out how to run the gym we bought...let's host a comp!

I loved the whole day. Being there with so many of my friends and the people that have stuck with us and supported the ownership change. Running around and solving problems, feeding all our volunteers, stepping out of my comfort zone, watching Mark step up in a new way as a gym owner, watching the Smiths and Terry's do the same....it was the best day. Can't wait to get after it again next year!

Oh yeah! We own a gym!

If you had a large space all decked out with fun stuff to do and a recently donated pickle ball net, you'd have your New Year's party there too!  No cleaning of the house required.

We bought a gym

We bought OUR gym!

And ever since, we've been working night, day, and weekends to fix, paint, clean, refinish, replace and generally give it new life. We love this place and we know it can be amazing. 

Here's what we've been up to for the last couple months:

Tearing out old carpet.  Two words....Old Pee. 

Everything needed attention. 

Not a moment too soon.

The landlord started renovations on the front "offices". They have always been used for living quarters and they were in complete disrepair. 

We hired someone to build a wall. Goodbye, open air toilets!

They built it. We painted it. That was WAY more work that we thought it would be. 

Time to repaint the floor lines. Everything red, is going yellow. OnTrack is now the largest local buyer of Unmellow Yellow. 

The old sign literally peeled off the front of the building and landed on the sidewalk. The Terry's worked magic with a sheet of galvanized steel. 

A meeting with all our coaches, new and old. Time to change the culture. These awesome folks are the ones to do it!

Gorgeous new bathrooms! Ross is a DIY master. 

Pee carpet gone, a new clean space for the kids ready to go!

The front office turned out amazing. We have a shop area, kitchen, storage closets, office for Mark and Dan and two more offices we can sunlease out to our favorite chiropractor, Dr. Bob!

The kids a getting comfortable hear...it's starting to feel like a second home. I think that's a good thing?
