Shepherd's Night Fettuccini

I don't think there is a more wonderful way to bring Christmas Cheer to my heart.

Do the cooking!

Mathew planned a wonderful meal for Shepherd's Night! Fettuccini Alfredo from scratch.

Delicioso!!

We ate it by candlelight and, I am not lying, I am non momming, it was the most delicious alfredo I've ever tasted. We were all making happy eating sounds. We rivaled Bob and his hand-shucked corn.

Carolers! So fun and so awkward. There is an acceptable amount of time one should sing at other people. The line was crossed.

Lookie there! We have three Shepherd's Night takers! I sympathize with and join those that will be sleeping on softer surfaces, but I salute those with younger backs than I. You are making Christmas Magic, my dears.

Papusas a la Megan

Hot Dang, she made papusas!

I'll never forget the spanish speaking mamas laughing and shaking their heads at me when I asked for the recipe back in Rialto. They said even if they gave it to me, I'd never make it.

They were right. It's ALOT.

But they hadn't met Megan.

She found a recipe, shopped for all the ingredients and spent the entire morning making the filling from pork belly, mixing up the masa flour and making a batch of curtido.

And she served me hot papusas in my corner of the couch. (Bonus: The Cracker Barrel apron)

Delicioso!

Girls camp 2024

We went to Lake of the Ozarks with the girls from our original Olathe 3rd ward. They have been split into two wards now, so it was nice to be together again.

A few highlights:

Starting out fresh and clean!

Taking a tour of Ozark Caverns

I spent all my time filling this table with food

It was HOT....so so hot. I borrowed this AC unit from Bobby, my favorite chiropractor. It saved our lives. It was the best thing I brought.

This truck was a close second...I used it to haul everyone and everything up and down from the water. When AJ and I got to a a point where we couldn't handle the heat or the drama or the human interaction or the mosquitos one more second, we would escape to the truck and let the AC bring us back to life.

Everything in that kitchen was BIG. Big bowls, big ovens, big appetites. Cooking for 35 people is a full time job!

We made floating lanterns

The final morning devotional

The last photo, a little worse for wear, but lots of love and memories made!

Father's Day 2023

Daughters, huffmuffins, pork babacoa and a healthy(ish) treat.

I love it when I get help with the chopping and cooking.

He's our favorite!
