Anna Sassafrass

Should I be worried?

SBL: Finds and Failures

We merrily drove over to Westport to hit our very favorite place to get papusas and (gasp!) it has been turned into something called the Donut Lounge.

Don't get me wrong...I'd lounge with some donuts any day....but we are in urgent need of papusas!

STAT.

Luckily, google led us to a new place in Merriam.

And they were even better.

We attempted the exploding watermelon at the youth combined activity tonight.

It was lackluster.

We ran out of rubber bands. It didn't explode. And then a teenage boy kicked it. Super lamo.

Farmer's Market Pet

We had a fun time at the farmer's market this year. It finally occurred to me that having fun in that venue would require "sampling the wares", per say.

The scones were the winner.

But our favorite thing was this little guy. He's possibly going to be a car succulent.  He can join us on our travels.

SBL: Embroidery and Dragon's Breath

So many crafts...this was a really fun one. Once they had a string with a knot in the bottom, they were sewing all by themselves. They didn't even struggle too much with the buttons.

We also decided at the last possible minute to run over to Frozen2 to try their cereal snack frozen in liquid nitrogen.  I'm kind of amazed that teenagers are allowed to work at this place. Liquid nitrogen is scary.

It wasn't really about the taste...it was all about the "Dragon's Breath"

Please excuse the final "up the nose" shots in this video...I seem to have forgotten I was recording.

Now that's funny.

It may come as a surprise to my posterity that I absolutely HATE the primary song, "Follow the Prophet".

That is not to say I don't want to actually follow the prophet, I just prefer that we not sing about it in ominous minor keys and throw in a "do it, or else" vibe for good measure.

But, children.

This is pure genius. And, unfortunately, this would fit right in with the rest of the verses we teach our sweet sunbeams. Have mercy!

Dancing Dawn to Dusk

Today was the day...the entire day.

It's all dancing, all hair and makeup and costume changes.

Here's the schedule...lest you think I exaggerate..... Everly is in Mini, Anna and Laney are in Upper Class. That effectively covers the whole day.

There is absolutely no way we were going to be able to drive back and forth to Lawrence in between all of these rehearsals and sound checks and performances.

So we brought supplies.

We got comfy.

And we made ourselves at home. For the entire day.

We commandeered a bathroom to do the required ringlet hair. It worked great!

The performances were UHdorable. What can be cuter than sweet little girls tapping their toes in swishy skirts.

I know not.

It was so fun to have Anna and Laney in the same class. They are so different and both so wonderful!

Everly and Dad in their Father/Daughter dance. The best thing ever.

Anna and Laney...love those swishy skirts!!

Crafting with the Terry's

Lauren is hosting a weekly craft for interested kids at her home...which I find incredibly brave. And we will absolutely take full advantage of her and her sweet naive heart!

Winding yarn around cardboard letters! So CUTE!

And doable.

Painting little rocks to look like little cactuses. Cacti?

I am crazy in love with her sweet eyelashes....*sigh*

Crafting at other people's houses is the best kind of crafting.

Making free form art from leaves and petals.

How does she do that??

She has a unique way of seeing the potential in things that completely escapes me.
