Lone Valentine

One last hold out for heart hair.

Those old ladies were right.

I should have "enjoyed it while it lasted"

Who will let me do heart hair next year?

Are we feeling the love?

Will this day be romantic?

It will not.

Will I want to weep from complete exhaustion when I finally climb into my bed tonight?

Yes I will.

But will we have our HEART SHAPED CINNAMON ROLLS???

You bet your sweet bickies.

Now, get back to work.

Valentines Day 2019

Mercy.

This year the boxes came with an extra helping of blood, sweat and hostage negotiations.

But we emerged victorious!

Laney asked for a 3D wolf head on the top of her box. After I stared off into the distance and looked like I might have a good cry, Megan stepped in and helped her create this masterpiece with tinfoil and paper mache! I love big kids.

Everly decorated her own with stickers and markers and they had instant regret. She wanted wow factor and rhinestones. We made it happen. Three cheers for a fully stocked craft cupboard!

Anna wanted a Valentine garden. She loved making these flowers from cupcake liners!

And, lest we forget....HEART HAIR!

Heart Hair lives on!

Our valentines are not homemade and we haven't bathed in days.

But we have heart hair and it's time for Valentines Parties!

Heart Hair Forever

Things may not be too fancy for Valentine's Day, but I'll be danged if we don't have time to do some heart hair!

Valentine hair

There's the valentines and the candy and the candlelight dinners and maybe some flowers or a card or a dinner out.

And then there's making your pigtails into hearts.

Happy Valentines!

Maren turns 38...and we multitask

I love having little kids. They are sweet and snuggly and fairly obedient.

But big kids decide to right your name out of snow.

And then they do it!

Mark is great and throwing a party.

Take that, Pinterest!  They made that banner without even having to search your databases!

I decided to combine the birthday dinner with some of the things I had made for Valentines day. I am positive there was a good reason, but it escapes me at this time. You have to be prepared for this when you are born the day before a holiday. I am at peace with it.

When you are born on February 13th, you better not get mad when your birthday decor and gifts have a lovey theme. It's just part of the deal.

I made these little scratch off cards for the kids. Too bad the scratch off stuff required a steak knife to remove.  Curse you, Pinterest!

That's a cake for a 38 year old, right there.

This Valentines was brought to you by....

Some say that Valentines day was invented by the card companies.

I think it is secretly sponsored by Pinterest.

Can I get a witness, ladies?

Here was our Valentines day from start to finish:

Heart shaped cinnamon rolls?

Pinterest.

Hanging balloons and cocoa with heart marshmallows?

Pinterest.

Heart hair?

Pinterest.

Joyschool heart painting with toilet paper rolls?

Pinterest.

Cutsie saying on a Crush? Homemade valentine notes folded into a litte envelope?

Pinterest.

Mozzarella sticks made from string cheese and wonton wrappers? (Best thing that ever happened to me)

Pin-ter-est.

Sundaes served in chocolate bowls made with water balloons?

Pinterest.

3 things happened:

1) The kids loved it
2) I was exhausted
3) I forgot to give Mark a kiss.

Next year Valentines Day is going to be sponsored by a good restaurant and a nice babysitter.
