Europe - Day 10, Gimmelwald and Lovely Naps

The rain was hanging on today. In the morning, it was just the mist clouds, so we decided to take our chance and walk down to Gimmelwald. But first it was our very happy task to eat up the last of our fruit with our Müsli. Strawberries galore!

We set of down the hill and we felt like the only people around. It was cool and crisp and reminded me of autumn. The rain came spurts, but mostly in was just in the air.

We said hello to the cows and their wonderful bells.

When we came upon this path, we laughed and wondered if the one that goes straight up is for the Swiss and the wide, lazy downhill was for the soft tourists. It might take us 3 times as long to arrive, but we'll be happy when we get there!

The clouds do beautiful things to the webs.

The hike down was filled with fun things to see. Little waterfalls tucked in the trees....

Romantic mossy walls...

 Spindly little alien flowers...

Sweet little flower buds that prefer not to open up to the chilly air.

I still can't get enough of their amazing gardens. I think Mom and I would fit right in up here!

Along the way, we saw several of these little shops set up outside of people's houses. I thought it was the greatest idea!  I would totally do this if I lived somewhere people would walk by. It's the perfect little business if you don't want to do the salesman stuff (yuck). I bought two Swiss Army patches for 4 francs...put them in a little slot at the bottom of the cabinet.  So cool.

Here's one selling "Alpcheese". If we had more time, I might have bought some, but I don't think bringing a chunk of cheese to Italy in my purse is a wise plan.

Look at this collection of bells! And those huge bells on the end...how big must those cows be?!?

Another shop that runs on the honor system. I found a cool Swiss key chain for Ethan here and mom almost bought some cute red shoelaces, but talked herself out of it. She says she's going back with Heidi and get them in a couple weeks!

They really were cute shoelaces!

We hopped on the cable car and right back up to Mürren to spend the day talking and reading and doing all our laundry. It was a perfect lazy day.

We sauteed potatoes and sausage for our dinner along with a green salad. We made some pretty tasty salad dressing using some of our honey, a mustard condiment packet and a little olive oil!

While we were hanging about, we heard the cow bells get louder and we popped out onto the balcony and saw that someone was leading a small herd up the street. Just like in Payson!

Tomorrow we get up early to catch a train to Cinque Terre.
